Welcome to Ascend: Quit Porn & Rewire ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information in compliance with applicable laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Apple App Store requirements.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can be used to contact or identify you. This includes:

• Account Information: Email address (required for account creation), display name (optional), and Apple/Google sign-in data used for authentication.
• Onboarding and Profile Data: Recovery quiz answers, your "why I quit" statement, your personal commitment statement, and other profile details you choose to save.
• App Usage Data: Daily check-in data such as mood, habits, reflections, triggers, streak data, progress data, and other in-app activity tied to your recovery experience.
• Community Data: Posts, comments, and group messages you contribute.
• AI Coach Interactions: Messages you send to the AI Coach. To support personalized coaching, we may store a coach profile summary, a rolling conversation summary, and a short recent-message buffer instead of keeping an unlimited raw transcript.
• Notification Data: Push token, notification permission status, reminder time, and notification preferences such as daily reminders, streak-at-risk warnings, comeback nudges, milestone celebrations, and coach prompts.
• Analytics Data: Firebase Analytics event data such as device type, app version, session activity, screen views, and feature events. We use this in aggregated or de-identified form where possible to understand usage and improve app performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to provide, maintain, and improve our services, including:

• Account creation and authentication.
• Personalizing your app experience, progress tracking, and recovery tools.
• Saving your "why I quit" statement, personal commitment, and other preferences you choose to keep in the app.
• Providing AI Coach responses, conversation memory, and conversation summaries.
• Enabling community features, moderation, and daily community experiences.
• Analytics, app diagnostics, and improving app functionality and performance.
• Managing subscriptions, paywalls, and purchase restoration.
• Sending push notifications when you enable them.

3. Sharing Your Information and Third-Party Processors

We share information only as needed to run the App and provide the features you use. Our third-party processors include:

• Firebase (Google): For authentication, Firestore database storage, cloud functions, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Cloud Messaging.
• RevenueCat: For subscription management and entitlement status.
• Superwall: For paywall presentation and optimization.
• OpenAI: For AI Coach responses, conversation summaries, content moderation, AI community engine features, and daily community prompt generation. OpenAI does not use API data for training by default.
• Expo: For Expo Push token registration and push notification delivery.

These providers are only given the information reasonably needed to perform their services for us.

4. Coach Memory

Ascend includes an optional personalization layer called Coach Memory. When enabled, we store a small amount of information so the AI Coach can respond with better continuity over time.

• Profile summary: Key details such as goals, reasons for quitting, triggers, or coaching preferences you have shared.
• Rolling conversation summary: A concise summary of prior coaching themes.
• Recent message buffer: A short window of recent coach messages is kept directly, while older messages are summarized and removed instead of stored forever as a full transcript.

You can disable personalized memory or clear all coach memory at any time in Settings → AI Coach Memory.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable notifications, Ascend may send daily reminders, milestone celebrations, streak-at-risk warnings, comeback nudges, and coach prompts. We use Expo Push and Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver these notifications.

You can turn these notifications on or off in the app, and you can revoke notification permission at any time in your device's operating system settings.

6. Account Deletion

You can delete your account in the app by going to Settings → Delete Account and typing DELETE to confirm.

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, check-ins, streak data, coach memory, habits, referral data, and other account-linked recovery data from our systems. It also revokes your app-side subscription record and access tied to RevenueCat.

If you posted in the community, your posts, comments, and messages are anonymized rather than fully deleted so other users' conversations do not break. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, you may still need to cancel store billing separately in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

7. Data Retention

We keep operational account data for as long as your account remains active and as long as it is needed to provide the App.

Coach memory is retained until you clear it, disable personalized memory and remove it, or delete your account. Community content associated with a deleted account is anonymized as described above. We may retain limited information longer if required by law or needed to protect the security and integrity of the service.

8. Your Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the GDPR, including:

• Right to access your personal data.
• Right to rectification of inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure of your personal data.
• Right to restrict processing.
• Right to data portability.
• Right to object to processing.
• Right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

9. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Auto-renewing Subscriptions

The App offers auto-renewing subscriptions for premium features. Your subscription and payment are managed through third-party platforms such as the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Please refer to their respective policies for more information. Subscription fees are charged to your account and will auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel store billing via your device settings.

12. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States where our servers and third-party service providers are located. We ensure appropriate safeguards to protect your information in such transfers.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
